Darkness and Light

Into the darkness and out of the light

Makes people wonder if everything’s alright

Or if anything scary goes bump in the night

Makes your hair stand on end and your teeth clench tight

Or make a tense fist until your knuckles turn white

Or remembering times of turmoil and plight

Like the numerous times you got beat in a fight

When you had to talk about things that were trite

If asked if my bark is worse than my bite

I am more like a bird about to take flight

Into the darkness and out of the light
